Editorial questions and corrections

Include the article title and URL, quote the relevant passage, and explain the proposed correction. Links to collection records, digitized pages, or other identifiable evidence help distinguish factual errors from differences of interpretation. Suggestions for objects or topics are also welcome.

Copyright, attribution, and permissions

Identify the page and material concerned, explain your relationship to the rights holder, and provide the relevant source or licence information. For image reuse, check the original file record first: we cannot grant rights belonging to an artist, photographer, collection, or other third party.

Privacy requests

Use the subject line “Privacy request” and describe the information or correspondence concerned. Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, or another available privacy right. We may need proportionate information to identify the relevant records and verify a request. Please do not send identity documents unless a specific need has been explained.

Website problems

For a broken link, unreadable page, or accessibility problem, include the page URL, what you expected, what happened, and your browser or device if relevant. A screenshot can help, but remove personal or confidential information before sending it.

What happens to your message

Correspondence is used to consider and respond to the matter raised, as described in our Privacy Policy. Sending a message does not make it a public submission or grant permission to publish your personal details. Please state whether any contributed text or image is intended for publication.

There is no guaranteed response time or emergency support service. Privacy requests are subject to the deadlines and exceptions of applicable law. Please avoid sending passwords, financial information, or other unnecessary sensitive data.
